How to migrate my product from an external members area to Hotmart's Members Area?

If you sell your products through Hotmart but use an external members area to deliver the content, you can migrate it to Hotmart’s Members Area. With this change, you centralize your product management and take advantage of all the exclusive features that the Members Area offers, such as environment customization and full integration with Hotmart tools.

In this article, we’ll show you the step-by-step process to migrate your product and explain how to test the Members Area before completing the final migration. This way, you can ensure everything works perfectly for your students.

What should I know before migrating?

Before starting, here are some important things to keep in mind:

• This migration is recommended for those who already sell products through Hotmart but use an external members area to deliver content.
• You can set up and test the Members Area without affecting current students' access. This ensures a smooth transition with no impact on your sales.

How to migrate my product to the Members Area?

To start the migration process from an external members area to the Members Area, just follow these steps:

1. Log into your account at: https://app.hotmart.com.
2. In the left-hand menu, click Products and then My products.
3. Click on the product you want to migrate to the Members Area.
4. In the product dashboard side menu, click Members Area and then Migrate to Members Area.
5. Next, you’ll have two options:

• If you already have a Members Area, select the desired members area and click Add to Members Area.
• If you don’t have a Members Area yet, you can create one by following the steps in this article.

After adding your product to the Members Area, your external members area will still be the default for your students. This means you can test the Members Area without changing the experience for your current students. During this period, you can:

• Add content and test the class organization.
• Customize your Members Area to reflect your brand.
• Import a few students to monitor their experience in the new area.

While running these tests, your sales will continue as usual, and current students' access won’t be affected. They will continue using the external members area until you complete the migration.

When everything is set up the way you want in the Members Area, it’s time to make it the primary members area for your product. To do this:

1. In the left-hand menu, click Products, then My products.
2. Click on the product you want to finalize the migration for.
3. Go to Members Area > Migrate to Members Area > Finish migration.
4. Click Confirm migration.

Done! From that moment on, all new students will access the content through the Members Area.

Frequently asked questions

❯ Can I export content from an external members area to the Members Area?

Currently, it’s not possible to automatically migrate content from external platforms to the Members Area. However, to simplify the process, we offer a bulk upload tool that allows you to upload multiple videos and files at once. To learn how to use this tool, check out this article.

❯ Why can’t my students access content on the Members Area?

If your students can’t access content on the Members Area, it may be related to how they were registered in your previous members area.

The migration of students from an external platform to the Members Area only includes those who made a transaction through Hotmart. If a student was manually added in the previous platform without completing a sale via Hotmart, they won’t be automatically migrated.

To manually add these students to the Members Area, follow the instructions in this article.
