According to local tax regulations, platforms like Hotmart are not responsible for collecting taxes from consumers and merchants in Argentina. This responsibility falls on credit card operators or Payment Institutions (PIs), which charge taxes directly when processing payments to foreign suppliers.
As of December 23, 2024, the Impuesto País has been eliminated, but some taxes may still apply:
- 21% VAT (Value Added Tax);
- 30% Income Tax (Impuesto a las Ganancias);
- IIBB (Gross Income Tax), which may vary depending on each province. Check here the applicable rates for each province.
The amount will appear on your credit card statement with the appropriate description, and only the original price of the product will appear on the Hotmart invoice.
The only document that Hotmart can issue is an International Invoice for the purchase. In this document, you'll find details about the type of product you purchased, as well as the date and amount charged by Hotmart.
If you need to add billing information, you can access the invoice at this link. You'll need to enter the transaction number that appears on the invoice in the format HPXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and the email address you used to make the purchase. Please have your billing information or ID number at hand in case you need it.
The currency in which the charge is made and the way in which the taxes are detailed may vary depending on the institution that processes the transaction:
- If the transaction is processed directly by your bank, you will identify in your bank statement two charges referring to the value of the product and the taxes respectively. The charges may be in Argentine pesos (ARS) or in US dollars (USD), depending on how the bank processes international transactions. In this case, you should contact them directly to provide you with more information about taxes and to help you manage the refund, if applicable.
- If the transaction is processed by EBANX you will identify a single charge in Argentine pesos (ARS), which consists of the value of the product, plus taxes. You can verify the value of the product on the invoice issued by Hotmart and the tax details sent to your email with the subject "Hotmart | Purchase approved!...".
Important: By AFIP definition, Hotmart does not classify as an educational platform, and in the case of transactions processed by a local acquirer such as EBANX, it is not possible to request a tax refund.
Hotmart does not have access to detailed information about taxes and has no control over their collection or refund, so we cannot include this information in the invoice we issue. We only make it clear at the time of purchase that taxes may apply.
To learn more about this process and the taxes involved, please contact the AFIP through this link.
