A subscription is a recurring payment plan established at the time of your purchase. It can be weekly, monthly, bimonthly, quarterly, biannually or annually. This periodicity is defined by the creator and is informed on the payment page of the product that you purchased.
Just like streaming services for series and music, subscriptions generate recurring charges for continuous access to the content. Once payments have been made, you get full access to the product's content, automatically released by our system.
In this article, we explain a little more about subscriptions and their rules:
- Recurrences: amounts and payment frequency
- Payments: special recurrences, payment methods and reprocessing
- Refunds and cancellations
What are recurrences?
Recurrences are the charges made at the intervals determined by the creator in your subscription plan. With each paid recurrence, you can re-establish access to your subscription.
How do I know the recurrence of my subscription?
The recurrence of the charge is informed on the payment page (the page on which you make your purchase), but you can also access this information in your purchases area by following the instructions below:
- Go to https://consumer.hotmart.com.
- After logging in, select My purchases from the menu on the left and click on the product you want.
- The details of your purchase will be displayed, and you can select the option Set up payment (or Settle pending payments, if the payment is overdue).
- A new page will open, where you will see the Payment Information section. On this page, you can access information such as the subscription status, the payment method used, the transaction history, the expiration date, the recurrence amount and your current plan.
The price and billing date of your subscription are set automatically when you purchase the product. If you want to change your recurrence date, see our article How do I change the payment date of my subscription?.
If you would like to know more about the subscription renewal process, see the article How to maintain my subscription plan.
Payments
Why was the amount charged different from the first recurrence?
In certain situations, the first subscription charge may be promotional. This is a strategy defined by the creator to allow the buyer to get to know the product better.
After the first month, subsequent charges will be for the full monthly fee. If you have any doubts about these amounts, you can contact the creator by following the steps below in this article.
Payment methods
The payment methods available for a subscription are also defined by the creator. They can currently be: credit card, PayPal, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Hotmart balance (Brazil), bank slip, OXXO (Mexico), Multibanco (Portugal), PIX (Brazil), SEPA (Europe) and PSE (Colombia).
From your subscriber area, you can manage your payment preferences. If you have any doubts about how to change the payment method used for your subscription, read the article How do I change the payment method for my subscription?.
Reprocess Payment
Our payment system currently makes up to five automatic collection attempts per recurrence. These attempts will be made before the next recurrence period. They can be spread over different dates until the next charge.
After five unsuccessful billing attempts, the subscription will be automatically canceled. If your payment is not made or processed correctly, you can reprocess it by following the instructions in the article How do I reprocess my payment?.
Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time. However, it is important to note that canceling will not result in a refund of the amount paid, but will prevent future charges. For more information on how to cancel your subscription, see our article How to cancel my subscription?.
Subscription refunds are restricted by certain rules. The possibility of receiving it applies only to the initial purchase transaction, provided it is within the warranty period. If your transaction meets these requirements and you decide to request a refund after canceling your subscription, you can consult the article How do I request a refund for my purchase?.
