Hotmart is authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen) to operate as a Direct Credit Society (SCD).
In practice, this means holding a license to act as a financial institution qualified to execute digital payment transactions through an electronic platform, directly to our customers, without the need for intermediaries.
In this article, you will better understand how the prepaid payment account at Hotmart (SCD) works, the benefits of being regulated by Bacen, and what happens if your account becomes inactive.
What are the benefits of being regulated by Bacen?
Being regulated by Bacen in the SCD category indicates compliance with strict regulatory requirements and an operation aligned with market best practices, offering:
- Security and compliance: We follow Bacen's requirements to protect our customers' transactions and information, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of financial data.
- Transparency and credibility: The license demonstrates that we operate transparently and are subject to supervision and oversight by Bacen.
- Access to regulatory resources: As an institution authorized by Bacen, we have access to updated regulatory information, ensuring that we operate legally and in compliance with current regulations.
- Customer support: We ensure that our customers' rights and interests are protected in accordance with applicable financial regulations, striving to offer them the best possible support.

How does opening a payment account at Hotmart work?
As established in Hotmart's General Payment Policy, upon making their first sale, the creator, cocreator, or affiliate authorizes Hotmart to open a prepaid SCD payment account. This account will be in their name and is maintained with LaunchPad Sociedade de Crédito S.A.
The process is simple: You have your access within the Hotmart platform (sales link, streaming, affiliate program, Club, sales page, checkout, etc.), and after your first sale, a payment account is automatically created so you can access your earnings safely and effectively, with funds held in an account registered with Bacen.
Why was my Real (BRL) payment account closed?
The Bacen payment account can be closed at any time by Hotmart in two main situations:
- Inactivity: When your account has not been accessed for a few months and you haven't made new sales (as a creator or affiliate) for over 12 months.
- Change of residence: In cases where the creator or affiliate no longer resides in Brazil.
This is a standard regulatory and security measure. However, don't worry! As soon as you make a new sale, a new BRL payment account will be created for you, and you can resume transacting normally.
The Bacen payment account can also be closed at the user's own initiative. To learn more, check out this article!
How do I withdraw my balance if my BRL account was closed?
If you have a remaining balance on the platform but received a notification that your payment account has been closed, you can still withdraw your funds.
To proceed with transferring your balance, you must have a registered and approved bank account on the platform. Follow these steps:
- Log in to your Hotmart account: https://app.hotmart.com.
- Go to the menu My Account > Financial Details.
- Check if you already have a valid and approved account registered.
- If you do not have a registered account, click New account. A security key will be sent to your email. Enter your Hotmart account password and the security key to proceed. Submit the required documentation and wait for approval (which can take up to 5 business days).
- Once your bank account is approved, contact our support team informing them that you want to withdraw the balance from your closed SCD account.
Note: Since the payment account is closed, the standard "Withdraw" button will not work. Balance withdrawal must be requested through Hotmart support.
